St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Reddish

John O'Sullivan

I was appointed by the Bishop of Salford as a foundation governor of the amalgamated school in April 2011 and reappointed on 1st April 2015 for a further four years. Prior to that I was a member of old infant school governing body.  As a foundation governor I have a responsibility to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school in addition to ensuring high standards of educational achievement by the children.  In October 2014 I was elected as Chair of governors having previously served as Vice Chair since the amalgamation.

I was Chair of the Personnel & Finance committee until October 2015 but I still attend the meetings.  Additionally I am a member of the Teaching & Learning committee and Chair of the Health & Safety committee.

My association with the school began in the 1960’s when I attended the school along with my two brothers and three sisters.  My daughter also attended the school in the early 1990’s. I am qualified accountant but have always maintained my interest in education.  Having worked in the construction industry for many years I now find myself working in a school.

I am committed to working with the school staff, parents and pupils to ensure we continue to challenge ourselves to provide the best possible outcomes for all of the children in our school.
