St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Reddish

Geraldine Deeney

I was elected as a parent governor on 1st April 2013 for a four year term. i am a member of the Teaching and Learning committee.

I have two children, my daughter has just left St Joseph's to move onto High school and my son will soon be starting in Year 3.

I was delighted to be successfully elected as a parent governor in May 2013 by the parent body. I had previously been a parent governor for the old Infant school governing body so after having my second child i was keen to actively get involved.

I am the named Safeguarding Governor so part of my role is ensuring oversight and scrutiny of the safeguarding policy, procedure and practice on behalf of the full governing body. Another fundamental responsibility i have is to use my experiences as a practicing Catholic to positively promote the aims and identity of our Catholic School.

Professionally I have over 16 years's experience of working within education, focusing on working with all parties to ensure all children are given the same opportunities to fully access their education and that barriers to learning are identified and positively removed.

I am passionate about continuing to be involved with the crucial work of the governing body to invest in the future of our children and our school community.
